Critical Issues
IGFA
- International Game Fish Association
IGFA's objectives are founded
on the beliefs that game fish species, related food fish, and their habitats are
economic, social, recreational, and aesthetic assets which must be maintained,
wisely used and perpetuated; and that the sport of angling is an important recreational,
economic, and social activity which the public must be educated to pursue in a
manner consistent with sound sporting and conservation practices.
NOAA
Fisheries - National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
In
the 21st century every aspect of NOAAs mission faces new urgency given the
intensifying national needs of the environment, the economy, and public safety.
NOAAs role in facing these challenges is to assess and predict environmental
changes, protect life and property, provide decision makers with reliable scientific
information, manage the Nations living marine and coastal resources, and
foster global environmental stewardship.
ASA
- American Sportfishing Association
As the leading recreational
fishing trade association, the American Sportfishing Association is the voice
of the sportfishing industry. We safeguard and promote the enduring social, economic,
and conservation values of sportfishing.
CCA
- Coastal Conservation Association
Through broad-based recreational
angler support, a strong legal and legislative presence, more than 25 years of
experience and an unwavering vision for the future of U.S. and global marine resources,
CCA will continue to battle for the health and longevity of our coastal fisheries
and for recreational anglers interests in them.
NCMC
- National Coalition for Marine Conservation
The National Coalition
for Marine Conservation (NCMC) is the nation's oldest public advocacy group dedicated
exclusively to conserving the world's ocean fish, habitat and environment. Our
mission is to build public awareness of the threats to our marine fisheries, provide
constructive solutions, and convince state, national and international fishery
managers to take appropriate action to reverse the overfishing effects on marine
fish.
NOS
- National Ocean Service
NOS measures and predicts coastal and
ocean phenomena, protects large areas of the oceans, works to ensure safe navigation,
and serves the American public in many other ways.
